whenever i put a dvd or certain cds into my computer which is a e-machine, it will not read the dvd or cd and i'm wondering what is wrong. lately i have been putting a lot of cds onto my computer for my ipod but i know there is enough memory. could you please help me with what is wrong and why it won't read it?

What do you mean by not reading? There few reason for not reading.
-your player ont supporting the software format of the disks( WMA orWAV.....).
-your drive not support the type of the media you put in(+ or -.....)

This third and four reason is some thing you don't want to hear and more than likely is the cause since it is Emachine .
-You drive is going
-I personaly fix lots of Emachine and have alway tell people not buy them. garranti some thing let go within a year.

So be more detail.

when i put in a dvd into my dvd rom drive it will not read the dvd. it won't load it it makes noises then stops.

Is it a original DVD or one of rewrite dvd? does the drive read that disk before?

I would try to uninstall and reinstall the software player see if it will read and if it doesn't read and 99% you will need a new drive. It's Emachine.
