I just got a HP5610 all-in-one printer/scanner/fax and the install seemed to go well - at least the install software indicated it did - untill I tried all fuctions of the machine. Printing, copying, fax all work well but the problem is with scanning. Says it's not connected to the computer.
Computer is HP pavilion xl844 running XPhome, and device manager indicates everything is working. HP documentation says uninstall & reinstall which I did twice. I even disabled the firewall & viruscan during the last install. No help.
FYI...I had a HP3200 scanjet on this computer back when it was running ME. After I upgraded to XP that scanner wouldn't work, and I finnaly gave up trying and got this new machine. Is there a connection here? Any ideas?
Thanks...

Yes...on a whim I tried that this morning and you're right - it's there. Funny thing is I can scan from the windows wizard function, but not from the control panel of the machine. Seems like a software glitch now...

Thanks,
