At the command, type chkdsk /r, and press "Enter". If warned that the drive is locked or in use, type Y to run on the next boot, and press "Enter". Now go for a walk or watch a movie...this check is going to take at least an hour if it runs...probably longer on your machine in it's current condition. Let it finish...the only sign that it's running may be the HDD light staying lit or flashing rapidly.

Let me know how it goes...

Nope...this is not a good thing.

Have you tried rebooting without the cd since running the chkdsk?

well thanks for all your help guys

i know you weren't able to fix the problem but at least ya tried :whistling:

so now i got my computer back from the Geek Squad
turns out computer was under warranty ( ) i didn't know

so they fixed other problems, i thought that my power supply in my computer was faulty- turns out it was so they replaced that (that wasn't the problem)

they actually couldn't figure out to fix the computer so they just put a new Harddrive in and now its running smooth as the day i got it

thanks for the help :help:

if i have a problem (hopefully not) then i'll come back here as i have in the past

Thanks
