I saved the WinHelp to desktop, right clicked and hit install, but nothing seemed to happen. When I opened it, it was some stuff on Notepad. Is this right?

I fixed the 016, rebooted and here is the fresh HJT log

Another problem is that now when I use ctrl alt suppr, the process monitor opens without any control buttons, not even to close it.

Thanks

Hi Folks

I found all this great stuff w.r.t About:Blank and have a couple of comments that may help others -

- the strain of AB that I got on my PC morphed filenames significantly and set file create dates in the past - without following the advice above I'd still be stuck with AB

- after the various prog runs (AboutBuster, CWShredder, Cleanup, Adaware, and HJT once more, the guidance is to manually delete the existing files. This is, of course, the right thing to do, but one of the files (my equivalent of mfcru32.exe - it was skdms.exe on mine) was attached to an explorer task which I had to shut down first thru Task Manager before I could delete it

Thanks guys and gals for the help - happy unhindered computing!
