I dont know for sure, but that scenario is just about impossible. The old server has been sent to an offsite location.

They need to connect to our Exchange server over the internet not through a VPN tunnel.

The problem arises when the remote clients through a SonicWall VPN connection try to connect.

How exactly are the clients attempting to connect? Remote RPC over HTTP? or is this a VPN connection?

that sucks....(too little too late...but never EVER get rid of a server untill the migration is confirmed to be working).....the best option here would have been to put everything back to the way it was working (i.e. put the old server back up)....then introduce this mail server as a completely different device...diff machine name..diff ip...make a new rule in the firewall to account for this new mail server....and do a full system ttest with the fake (the new one) server in place....THEN remove the old server...and reconfigure just the exchange data on the new server....that would be ideal....but since that doesn't seem to be happenig any time soon....you may need to be patient hehehe
