Hey guys-

Firstly - I am running XP w/SP2, AdAware, SpyBot S&D and AVG Free Antivirus..

Ok.. I've been having some really exciting issue's with the computer these past couple days. :tazz: Lost a hard drive, etc.. etc..

Anyway - My internet (DirecWay Satellite) was horribly slow.. and I was trying to find out what is wrong with it.. Anyhow - over the past few days I've been messing with it - and installed SP2 and everything is peachy again.. for the most part..

When browsing I am getting great speeds for DWay - 1500kbps... Then - I will get a XP Security Popup that asks if I would like to continue to block "veritas.exe" I have been saying yes - to continue blocking it - as soon as this happens the internet quits... websites won't load period..

So what I have been doing is doing a restore back to a point right before the "veritas.exe" pops up and the internet works fine, everything is working fine..

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

The following Hijack This log is "pre-veritas.exe" IE - I just took it and the veritas popup has not reared it's ugly head as of yet.. As best I can tell - Veritas.exe is a windows patch?? Which makes it sound like it's supposed to be there - so I have no touched it...

Anyhelp will be greatly appreciated..

Please download "Del Domain" from here:

http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=40

Download it to your desktop or somewhere you will find it. Extract the .inf file from the .zip file you just downloaded. Now right click "Deldomains.inf" and click "Install". It will not appear to have done anything, thats ok. Next step.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.
Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.
Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\veritas.exe
c:\c4t.exe
C:\Program Files\AdTools Service
dmblv.exe
veritas.exe
diater40.exe
<<These are most likely in C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows, if not then run a Search and delete them.

Reboot normally, install DelDomains again and post a new log.

jonnyrotten -

First - let me thank you for trying to help me.. I cannot tell you how good it feels to know I can come to a place like this and possibly find help - as I know enough about computers to just be dangerous.. :tazz:

ANyway - I followed your directions to the letter..

When I tried to delete the above mentioned files I was unable to find the following

veritas.exe
dmblv.exe
diater40.exe

I deleted:

AdTools Service
c4t.exe

I then re-ran Deldomains.inf and here is my newest log..

Did you make sure sure you were able to "View Hidden Files and Folders"? Anyways, it doesn't look like they're much of a threat now. Please run a free online virus scan here: Needs to be run with Internet Explorer.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

Reboot and let me know how things are running.
