Hi Blondminx

Are you running a Dell PC.

Go to Add/remove programs and uninstall Dell Support and the the problem will be gone. Dell notify alert has never worked right anyway.

Hi KC

I tried to uninstall Dell support this morning and this is the error message I get:

error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Then

Fatal Error during installation

I just want to scream, Dell doesnt make it easy thats for sure.

Hi Blondminx

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Hi Blondminx

Close all programs down, leaving only HijackThis running.
Place a check against the following items:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
O16 - DPF: {15589FA1-C456-11CE-BF01-000000000000} - http://www.errornuke...erInstaller.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: igfxcui - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\igfxsrvc.dll

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: see here if you don't know how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if found.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\igfxsrvc.dll

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working.

Hi Blondminx

Having two virus programs running can cause conficts, and is not recomended. Will also be a massive drain on your system resorces?
C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\PERSON~1\MPFSERVICE.exe

This program is not need on startup; it can be started manually
C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\DVDLauncher.exe

Have HijackThis fix this :
O23 - Service: Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental) (rpcapd) - Unknown owner - %ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe" -d -f "%ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.ini (file missing)[/B]

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN :tazz:

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use). Click Here
QUOTE
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox user posted image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats.

Kc ;)

Hi KC

Well I followed the instructions in your last post. My computer seems to be back to running faster which is always a good thing. The only question I have is about the initial error I posted ( Fatal Execution engine error) about which I am still getting when I boot up and then throughout my day. I still cannot uninstall Dell Support which is more than a little irritating, is there anything I can do to make the error go away once and for all?

Thank you so much for all your help, for someone like me who is clueless when it comes to computers I am deeply grateful.
Now if you ever need a Jet Engine built or repaired THAT I can do :tazz:
