Hi there,
there's a serious problem with my Printer ,
i have an office jet HP 4110 all-in-one which does fax, scan, print ,copy.
So my problem starts here ,i deleted a software ,while deleting it ,it asks me to,
whether to delete a file from system32 folder that is no longer in use !!!
as i'm not a PC geek, so inspite of thinking about the outcomes ,i deleted it and moved forward ,
and here's how my printer stopped working.

whenever XP starts ,it searches for the drivers and....... ,
and gives the message :

********************

An error ocurred during the installation of the device ,
and the specified port is unknown !!!

********************

so ,i contacted HP ,and gave told them the problem ,and also gave then the screen shots of my PC .
but no help ,
i tried installing USB 2.0 drivers from the net ,and intel site ..
but of no-use. !!!
tried re-installing the HP officejet but of no use same error pops up always .

i know if i re-install my XP ,this problem will vanish.
but i don't wanna do that !!!
so if some body can help me out from this problem ,i will be very grateful.
also if someone can copy printer files(drivers files) from his PC's system 32 folder and sends them to me ,
hope this will solve my problem.

********************

i want my printer to work asap as i wanna print some imp. documents that cannot be printed somewhere else or in front of others .!!!

Hope someone helps me out !!! :tazz: :) :)

Regards ,
Rajeev

if it was a system file...this should replace it

Do you have a valid XP cd?

If so, place it in your CD ROM drive and follow the instructions below

Start > Run > cmd then type

sfc /scannow (note the space)

let this run untill you get a message saying it is complete.

SFC - system file checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

If you want to see what was replaced, right click My Computer > manage, expand event viewer > system.

Turn off your computer

unplug it

start > run
services.msc
<enter>

scroll to print spooler service

Double click the spooler service

Press the Stop button

Start > Control pane; > printers and faxes

If your printer is still here, right click and choose delete

Go here

http://h10025.www1.h...en&cc=us&os=228

download the newest drivers.

Reboot

start the driver isntall from above--DO NOT CONNECT THE PRINTER YET

Wait until the install asks you to reconnect the printer, then do so

then follow the prompts

what's the name of the file that's missing? what's the name of the file you deleted?

if you want to reinstall do a repair installl not a fulll startover type of install

Boot up with the XP CD in the drive and let Setup run. Go past the "C" and "R" repair options by presssing Enter just as if you're doing a clean install and you'll eventually get an option to "Repair an existing installation". That's the one you want. If it asks about formatting you've gone wrong, so start over.

You'll get to keep your existing apps & settings, but you need to re-install SP2, Windows Updates & any unsigned drivers afterwards. NOTE: Be aware that you'll lose any protection from Blaster / Sasser type worms. Don't go online without a firewall, whether the built in Windows one or 3rd party.
