plz i want to know if oblivion will run with no lag at 1280x1024 at MAX settings, AA, HDR, i mean with ALL details

It wont do hugely better either though, youll only get some more AA out of it 7800s are getting hard to find these days. Its all 7900s.

There is actually a couple 7900gt's the same price as a few 7800gt's.

I guess you could look on google for Oblivion Prformance charts, and try and find one with your card in. By the way, it is 11:20 pm over here in England so i'm off to bed.

How well will Oblivion run on it?

And if I upgraded to a Geforce 7600GS 256MB Pci-E x16, and 2GB of Dual Channel DDR400 PC3200 RAM, what kind of performance should I get then?

Itll definitly run WAY better than the 6600. You might wanna look into the 7800's or 7900's theyre a lil bit more expensive but theyll run it a lot better. And I dont think youll really gain all that much from the extra gig of ram but itll definitly help.

More ram will boost performance for pretty much everything it would reduce load times. Well i can run oblivion fairly well on mostly high settings, the HDR wasnt as well dnoe as it should have been so i cant run HDR only bloom, dont have any AA on usually but can manage 2x sometimes, and thats at 1280x1024 on my x800 and a 7600GT is faster so it will be mostly high settings, the biggest killer is HDR and AA, if you run without those then it will manage high settings on everything else allright, when you turn on AA or HDR you will have to lower settings but those arent really as neccesary.

Im thinking about upgrading to a 7600GS, not 7600GT... and definately not a 7800 or 7900... cant afford it. and i know what AA is, but what is HDR? I plan on running it at 1024x768, so what settings do you think i will manage?

I was actually talking about the other person that posted before you above.

Well i wouldnt reccomend 1024x768 you will lose alot of detail and newer cards actually dont run as well using it.

A GS is a little slower than GTs but its not a huge difference usually, read up some benchmarks and you can roughly compare the two.

For those waiting for this summer to get a DX10 capable card, keep in mind that you will only be able to run it on Win Vista. On any other OS, games will go into dx9 (or lower) mode.


On an unrelated note, Halo 2 for PC will be written in DX10.
