having sound card mic prolbems

ok so i bought the AMD CPU Combo and it came with an onboard Realtek AC97 Audio. I installed the drivers (the cd that came with the motherboard). THe sound worked fine but once i tried to use the microphone nothing came out. I chekced the mic not muted or anything. Tested the mic on another computer, works fine. I then went to the realtek website and downloaded the drivers, still doesnt work. =[ So I was wondering if anyone could help me also i wanted to know if i bought another sound card, if i could use both the onboard and the one I will buy? Because I want to use one for my speakers and one for my headset. Have to move alot of stuff to change back.. lol thanks for the help.

Same problem is here. I have Realtek ALC860 codec on Intel HD Audio onboard device. I will let you know as soon as possible if I found solution.
