Hello there, i'm new in these forums, and english is not my first language (french inside) so i'm sorry if it's a bit hard to understand what i mean :)

I finally end up posting there because i really don't know what else to do. Here is my little story... 3 days ago i woke upand had this great idea "ah, i have time to spend, let's update my old windows" (i didn't run the windows update for months :) ). I often scanned my computer with ad aware SE and bitdefender, and i never had any problems related to virus or malwares, at least nothing i could see on my everyday browsing and playing. I play a lot and i don't download much things, i was fine until i clicked this "windows update" thing. Short story there, i had to reboot many times to update everything, and after that my computer began to drive me crazy. Since this day i keep scanning and trying everything to remove all this s... from my computer, especially the trojan.dialer.oy. I downloaded many things (ewido, panda titanium, AVG, hijackthis, spybot, a-squared, and all the microsoft ones that don't even find anything :) ) and ran on-line scanning with trend micro.

Yesterday i posted on a french forum and got some help, i thought that was ok, i disabled the system restoration (not sure of the english there), pressed F8 to enter the other windows mode while rebooting, done all the scans to remove everything i could, reboot again in normal mode, run online scanning and hijackthis, then after everything was ok, i enabled again the restoration. Nice, i finally got rid of that after two days of brainstorming, and today i woke up and... 1 hour after that, ewido guard pops up an alert to show me he blocked this !§%*#¤! trojan.dialer.oy :) :) :)
To add more about that, trend micro just found other things to remove, greyware... i am currently running another scan but i think it will be useless again.

Ewido reports that:

File: winA6F.tmp.exe
Path: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
Infection: Trojan.dialer.oy

And none of my other scans found anything, i uninstalled most of them since i thought that was ok, and my computer just couldn't handle all those anti-somethings programs.

here is the hijackthis log i just ran (after ewido blocked another time the trojan):

Hello Christopher and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen.

You have a little malware and a Trojan that needs to be eradicated. Let’s see what we can do with the first sweep.

To start please download the following programmes, we will run them later. Please save them to a place that you will remember, I suggest the Desktop:
CCleaner
The Avenger by Swandog46
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Quote

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winzdn32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\winA6F.tmp.exe

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

Now, start The Avenger programme by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • Upon reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy & paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://software-dl.r...RdxIE601_fr.cab
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winzdn32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winzdn32.dll

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

There is almost certainly bound to be some junk (leftover bits and pieces) on your system that is doing nothing but taking up space. I would recommend that you run CCleaner. Install it, update it, check the default setting in the left-hand pane, ensure you uncheck old prefetch data found under the system tab, and under the heading of Utilities uncheck Ewido Security Suite log, then click Analyze> Run Cleaner. You may be fairly surprised by how much it finds. Also click Issues then Scan for issues – fix selected issues

Post back a fresh HijackThis log (from normal mode) and I will take another look.

First of all, thanks a lot for your fast answer and your help, you are amazing :tazz:

I followed all the steps and i didn't have any particular problems while doing that. I'm alone on my computer and i don't think there are more settings than mine current one.

First, the log of Avenger:

Logfile of The Avenger version 1, by Swandog46
Running from registry key:
\Registry\Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\vtxxigoa

*******************

Script file located at: \??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\pypsthhk.txt
Script file opened successfully.

Script file read successfully

Backups directory opened successfully at C:\Avenger

*******************

Beginning to process script file:

File C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winzdn32.dll deleted successfully.

File C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\winA6F.tmp.exe not found!
Deletion of file C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\winA6F.tmp.exe failed!

Could not process line:
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\winA6F.tmp.exe
Status: 0xc0000034

Completed script processing.

*******************

Finished! Terminate.

I then did the other steps one by one, and found 1283 MB with CCleaner, wow.

Here is my last log:

Congratulations! your new log is clean. :tazz: Just a little bit more to do to prevent further infection.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programmes changing them. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

I recommend going to the following link and update as recommended by Microsoft. This adds more security and extra features including a pop-up blocker for Internet Explorer. Microsoft Update

Now that everything is fixed, I suggest that you consider getting these programmes to help keep the computer clean:

SPYWARE BLASTER - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer.
MICROSOFT ANTISPYWARE - With daily updates and scans, this programme offers good security against malware.
AD-AWARE PERSONAL – A fine free malware detector and removal programme
SPYBOT S&D – Excellent free spyware detector and removal programme
GOOGLE TOOLBAR - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
FIREFOX - Safer alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.
AVG ANTIVIRUS FREE EDITION - Free antivirus programme if you currently are not using one.
ZONEALARM - Free firewall programme if you currently are not using one (Windows XP has a built-in firewall).

Remember to update these frequently.

Please note that whilst there is nothing wrong in having more than one antispyware programmes for “on demand” scanning, having two or more antivirus systems is not recommended as they may well cause conflicts and slowness.

You may also want to read "How did I get infected in the first place" to learn how to better secure your computer.

Be sure to keep your Windows, antispyware and antivirus updated. :)

I hope that the pop-ups and/or redirects have stopped.

It just remains for me to wish you happy safe surfing et une bonne journee.
