I regularly get a problem with a slow shutdown which seems to be caused by iexplore.exe not shutting down properly. It frequently caused the Program Not Responding box to come up and can then be closed by End Now but is really pretty tedious and always happens when you are in a rush.

I have in the past had an occasional problem at startup when iexplore.exe would start immediately and hog all the processing time. This could eventually be stopped using Task Manager and, if memory serves me correctly by some help from this forum. Perhaps there is a hangover from this.

I wondered if there was a glitch somewhere in the settings which might cause this.

Hi The Edge!

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
