[makeitstop]

I've been working on this for five days now. I've run adaware, spybot, norton antivirus, windows update, ediwo, atf-cleaner, cw shredder, and vundo fix. I've pulled and followed the instructions for all virus' found. I've looked at startup programs and services. Turned everything back on for the HijackThis scan. I've been to safe mode and rebooted more times than I care to remember. I tried to run the Trend Micro scan, but couldn't get it to finish. There have been times everything has come up clean, but I'm still getting popups. I got to the point after everything ran clean - but I found three .dll files in the system 32 folder that I couldn't delete. I got an error about another person or program using the file (at that point I turned off most every service) but still couldn't delete them.

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
>From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

- Does your TaskManager show up when you use Ctr-Alt-Del ?

I can access task manager and regedit now. Popups appear to have stopped. Can I remove the l2mfix folder from my desktop? Can I remove a folder from my desktop called backups? Should I empty the recycle bin?

You can remove the l2mfix folder
In the backups folder are the things we fixed with HijackThis.
Hang on to that folder for a few days.
If you experience no problems, delete that as well.
Apply the same for the Recycle Bin. Wait a few days.

The guy that wrote the l2mfix is magic.
