Hi, everytime I log into my user (or any user) something tries to install itself. Then if I open IE something tries to install itself and my homepage changes. I think it is the Trojan.Zlob.D Trojan but I think I've deleted the trojan (the processes were mssearchnet.exe and nvctrl.exe and I think they are gone from the registry), don't know why the installer keeps coming. In the beginning I was getting a yellow triangle in the tray saying stuff about viruses and worms and pop-ups would come up randomly but that's gone.

Hi cowcow,

I see a few things we can try in your log, but no apparent malware. So I'd like to try this first.
Please download and read the information about the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility here:
http://support.micro...kb;en-us;290301

Check if you find anything on the list that was stopped or blocked halfway during installation and clean them.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
I've installed the cleaner but how do I tell which ones were stopped or blocked?

Usually it will be the one last in the list.
Or at least the one liseted last before the problems started.
Can you tell me what that is?

You have one Adobe entry in your log with the (file missing) remark, so I would say that's an excellent suspect.

Remove Adobe Common File Installer using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Then in HijackThis put checkmarks before:
O3 - Toolbar: Adobe PDF - {47833539-D0C5-4125-9FA8-0819E2EAAC93} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\AcroIEFavClient.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Acrobat Assistant 7.0] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Distillr\Acrotray.exe"

O4 - Startup: Adobe Gamma.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher.lnk = ?

Click Fix Checked and reboot. Let me know if that solved it.

I got an error while doing it, when I checked the backups the only one missing was the Adobe Gamma one.
Here is the error I got, but I'll reboot and see if it works

Unexpected error occurred!
Error #52 (Bad file name or number) in Sub GetLongPath(?.exe).

Please send a report to [email protected], mentioning what you were doing, and what version of Windows you have.
