I'm suffering from a barrage of pop-ups very similar to the urllogic.com plague discussed in other postings. After exhausting the suggested utilities (Ad-Aware, Spybot, SpywareBlaster, etc., I think I've pinpointed my problem to a mysterious process "cokywq.exe" A Google search revealed no hits on cokywq...

If anyone can assist, I'll name my auxillary hard drive after you.

Please set your system to show all files; How to view hidden files and folders.

Copy and paste this text document and save it to your desktop. Or if you have a printer you can print these instructions.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.
Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wyoqyk.exe
C:\windows\system32\cokywq.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items.

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: see here if you don't know how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if found.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wyoqyk.exe

C:\windows\system32\cokywq.exe

C:\WINDOWS\dlmax.dll

C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working.

thanks for the tips. I did as you instructed, but somehow cokywq.exe restarts itself when I kill the process with the Task Manager. Despite this, I continued through your instructions.. safe mode... etc. cokywq.exe is gone! I think the other offending processes are too.
Help2Go found another process wupdtl.exe or something like that... took care of it too. Unfortunately, I still get popups for urllogic.com

check out the latest hijackthis file if you could.
as a preventative measure, I removed my daily logon account as a computer adminstrator account (adding another adminstrator of course). Any other ideas.

boot into Safe Mode: see here if you don't know how to do this.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.
Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wyoqyk.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wyoqyk.exe

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we'll take another look.

Well... wyoqyk.exe is terminated. No pop ups yet, but Hijackthis is giving ominous warnings when lauched.

"For some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file, HijackThis may NOT be able to fix this.

If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click Start, Run and type:

notepad "C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts"

and press Enter. Find the lines(s) HiJackThis reports and delete them. Save the file as "hosts" (with quotes), and reboot"

Then a HijackThis error window

"An unexpedted error has occured at procedure: modMain_CheckOther1Item() Error #75 - Path/File access error..."
