I just bought an external HP DVD writer, Model HP dvd740e. So I have noticed it has this little quirk. when I turn my system off the power on the drive cuts off, when I turn my system back on the power to the drive does not restore and I have to unplug the power cable from the drive and plug it back in. I have tried to contact HP about it and well they were not very helpful. I am about to return to drive but I was wondering it anyone might have run into this same issue and if there is a fix that would save me the trouble of returning the drive.

Thanks

Hmmm... I have heard that some devices react this way. Have you tried using the drive on another computer to see if the results are the same?
