DR WATSON POSTMORTEM DEBUGGER INFECTION! HELP!

Hello,
I am having a problem with opening any media files on my computer and external hard drive... An error message pops up saying that Dr. Watsons PostMortem Debugger has had a problem and needs to close. Windows explorer then freezes and closes. Whenever I try to open some of the files in my external hard drive, explorer just freezes and i have to close it. I am in the process of following some directions given to me by someone else but am having trouble determining the problem files on the HijackThis Log... Can someone help me???.... I have found the drwtsn32.exe file in the windows/system32 file but am unable to delete it (obviously) and it is on my actual computer as my external hard drive has no system files, but the virus/bug seams to be affecting my external the most... is it because all my media files are on the external? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! Im in danger of loosing all my music, movies, videos Ive made and pictures... its my life lol - and I WOULD LIKE MY CONMPUTER FIXED!!! Thanks everyone...

Hi and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Sam and I will be helping you. :tazz:

The first thing I need you to do is relax, because you are not going to lose your files as a result of this problem. In fact, I don't believe you have a malware problem at all. Secondly you should realize that Dr. Watson is not the enemy here. It's just doing what it's supposed to do.

So let's work work through the problem and get it sorted out.

First I see from your log that you are running two antivirus programs at the same time. This can cause real problems with your PC. You need to uninstall either Mcafee or Avast.

Once you have done that I need to see a different type of log from hijackthis.
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on "Open the Misc Tools section".
  • Next click on "Open uninstall manager".
  • Press the button 'save list'. It will open a Notepad file.
  • Place the content of that file here in your in your next reply.

Please click Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and uninstall this program:

ACE Mega CoDecS Pack

Reboot your computer and let me know if you still get the same error.
