Hey all. I have some major problems with my computer. I am running XP, and am permanently connected through a college network. I have installed Ad-aware, spybot, TDS-3, CW shredder, spyware blaster and have a current version of Norton running on my computer. I have also run numerous online scans. I have done all of this in accordance with your rules about posting a hijack this log. None of these have fixed my problem. When I log onto or boot my computer up, I only have a blank wallpaper (no icons or taskbar) unless I kill the process msprc.exe. Once i end that process, my whole desktop comes up immediately. Also, once I get my desktop, I do not have internet access unless i kill numerous other processes, namely svchostingg.exe, msmsgv.exe, msmsgc.exe, spoolsv.exe. I have posted a hijack this log below, from right before I killed the processes, so I could get onto this forum. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Reboot If I have specified below, and Post a Fresh HijackThis log.

i missed one entry. please run Hijack this again and fix this entry, making sure all windows, including this one, are closed then select "fixed checked" on Hijack this

O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com

except for that one entry your log is clean.

you may also want to empty your restore points so that if you have to restore for some reason you won't reinfect yourself. You need to turn it off to clear the System Restore Cache of the virus. This can be done by following the Instructions for Your OS at http://www.vet.com.a...em_resoter.htm.

Then restart system restore to make a new clean restore point.

For Future Protection
Download and install:

SpywareBlaster will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies. http://www.javacools...areblaster.html

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
https://netfiles.uiu...rce.htm#IESPYAD

Both are very small free programs that you run once, and then just occasionally to check for updates.

And also see
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Happy computing
