I have an older computer that I graded with windows 2000. I started to get error messages on start-up so figured that the hard drive was crashing. I started to backup my programs and information but before I could finish, the "blue screen of death" appeared. Someone at work told me my I couldn't fix it so I just bought another computer. However, there is still some data on this computer that I could use. Is there anyway to retreive it or revive my computer. I tried starting in safe mode and also with a windows 98 startup disk. I continued to get the blue screen so gave up.

Thanks for you assistance, Holly

You could try adding the hard drive to your new computer as a slave drive and see if you can get to the drive thru explorer. If the computer gets error messages when you try starting up the drive has probably gone bad. If you really need the data you can try ZAR but the program costs $70. I would really need the data to spend that much money for recovery software. ZAR still won't recover on a dead drive.

Hi AuntieHolly...

Is there any information on the blue screen? Any numbers or file names?

Thanks so much for your replies. I will start the computer and see if any thing comes up and will get back to you.
