I have a dell demension 4300 with windows me operating system.
I purchaded windows xp with sp2 to install on my computer. This is not an up grade but full version.
I first tried a parallel install but it would go as far as setup and stop and lock computer up.
I then ran fdisk and formated hard drive and put cd in rom drive, restarted computer and message apeared invalid operating system. The xp cd is bootable, I went into bios and changed boot sequence to cd rom.
Can anyone help me?

Hello,

Well, as far as I can see, you did exactly what you're supposed to do. The only thing I can think of is... did you save the changes in bios when you changed the boot sequence? Oh.. also, how many CDROMs do you have? If you have two CD drives, make sure the XP disc is in the master drive, as XP will want to boot from there.
