my playback is so bright (i gotta wear shades)

I don't really know where I should post this because I am not sure where the problem is. Playback of ANY video file in ANY player (including VLC) is so bright, it is unwatchable (the colours are bright yellow/orange/white). Since all players are affected, the problem, I assume, must be either the video card settings, or some other windows setting that i need to adjust. either way, i dont have a clue how to do it.
my drivers are up-to-date, and DirectX is too.
any ideas??

I have 24 season 13 all ready to watch but it is unwatchable.
your suggestions would be appreciated

Which video card have you got?

Does everything else display properly

hi keith.
i have Nvidia GeForce FX5500, and yes, everything else is just fine. it is only movie files that have these problems. i only installed the graphics card a few days ago, so i suppose THAT is the problem.

If you installed the drivers from the CD which came with the card, have you since looked for updated drivers on Nvidia site

yes, all drivers are up-to-date.
