Hi all,

I have recently upgraded my mother board and kept the old HD. I installed the drivers for the motherboard onto 98SE, so far so good. I was scratching through some of my old software and found a Nero express disk with a newer version of the one that I already had on the machine. The code on the cd was 90.3ED28.007. I installed all the packages that came with the cd. This is where the problem started. I tried to eject the cd and then the windows blue screen flashed at me with this error.

An exception OE has occured at 0028:C004D8C5 in VxD VFAT(01) + 0000B8ED. This was called from 0028:C1C317C0 in VxD voltrack (04) + 00000430. It may be possible to continue normally.

*press any key to continue.
*Press ctrl+alt+del to restart your computer....

If I press any key the screen goes blank and the mouse cursor sits in the middle of the screen with no way of moving it.

If I then press CTRL+ALT+DEL then the windows task manager pops up, when that pops up the mouse is able to work, but the machine is still unusable.

If I reboot the machine manually I can login into windows, but once it has booted up fully ie loaded all the start-up programs it goes to this blue screen. So I don't even have a chance to try and get in there and uninstall the neo stuff.

I would appreciate your help.
Thanks

Take it into Safe Mode and uninstall Nero from there.

To get into Safe Mode, reboot and keep tapping F8 until you see the Boot Menu. In Safe Mode it'll look like a dog's dinner but you'll be able to uninstall the problematic software.
