NOW ------------- Here is the message that keeps popping up every 10-35 mins (pretty randomly)

Security Warning

Warning! Your computer is infected! Further work is impossible. Data can be lost.
Immediate actions to protect your PC are highly recommendable.
There is a high risk of computer breakdown if ignored.

For immediate solution to the problem, please, visit:

http://www.microsoft....e/default.mspx

I have actually been able to solve the problem by going to Run --> Cmd then quitting explorer.exe through the task list (ctrl+alt+del) then typing explorer.exe into the cmd prompt but then i can't do things like listen to music. oh yeah, and i suppose it'd be good to know the real issue at hand. the cpu reads 50% usage as soon as i log on (since ive seen posts on other forums dealing w/100% i would assume mine would be different b/c of the hyper-threading)

THANKS!!!!!!!

Welcome. My name is lovethepirk and I will be helping you.
You might have a Smitfraud infection so lets run some programs.

Before starting any cleaning steps, please disable the Microsoft Anti-Spyware real-time protection:
  • Right-click on the Microsoft Anti-Spyware tray icon by your clock (it's the one with the red and yellow bulls-eye).
  • Click on "Security Agents Status".
  • Click on "Disable real-time protection".
Next, open Microsoft Anti-Spyware.
  • Click on the Options menu, then Settings.
  • Select "Real Time Protection" from the left column.
  • Uncheck "Enable (MSAS) Security Agents" and "Enable real-time spyware threat protection".
  • Click the Save button.
Finally, Right-click on the MSAS tray icon, select "Shutdown Microsoft Antispyware", and click "Yes" in the dialog that comes up.

You can reenable it once your system is clean.

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5) Restart your computer.
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Download smitRem.exe ©noahdfear, and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Please download the trial version of ewido anti-malware here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

Close HiJackThis.

Navigate to this file and delete it by right clicking 'start' > 'explore':
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rdrVR2.dll

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Close ewido anti-malware.

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Post a new HijackThis Log, the contents of smitfiles.txt and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.

Regards,

LTP
