overheating

When I play some MKV file on my media player for a while or play games, my computer just shut down by itself. When i restart the computer, it state that the the computer has shut down because it is overheating.
What is the problem with my computer, is there a way to stop this.

my computer is:

Intel Pentium 4
CPU 2.66GHz
512mb of ram
Windows XP SP2

Yes, you can try buying more fans for you system. I dont know why it is over heating, but this should fix it. Also a new processesor fan and heatsink should work.

hello,

if the problem has just started recently it possible the guts of your pc are just dirty

you could get a can of the compressed air (at a computer store) and blow out the inside of your pc, if you feel comfortable opening your pc that is.....
