I want to delete everything off my computer and start again.

i placed the XP cd in, it came up with an error when i clicked install XP.

'the setup could not load as this is an older version of xp' (or something along those lines)

all i do is update windows via microsoft website.

so i want to delete everything and start again.

any help will be appreciated Iain.

To clear the drive, removing all data and programmes

Click start then control panel, click add / remove, tick show updates, look for SP2, click it, click remove

After SP2 has been removed, set the boot order to CD ROM then hard drive, put the XP CD in, boot the PC, look for press any key to load from CD, chosse install without repairing, use default NTFS format, not quick

There must be, it is the only update which makes it a newer version

Tick show updates, SP2 will be near the bottom
