Daughter's "genius" boyfriend tried to install a printer on her system. He asked if I had a current 98 disk since he lost the driver cd that came with the printer. I believe he dowloaded off of HP's site. He's gone now so it's hard to determine. (HP3600) and now she get this message
If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using its uninstall or setup program. If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file. c:\windows\system\VMM32\ifsmgr.VXD. Then it says it can't find a device needed to run windows or application. And then, the windows registry or system.ini file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists. Then it says press a key to continue and keeps bringing up c:\windows\system\VMM32\ios.VXD and then c:\windows\system\VMM32\ifsmgr.VXD. Finally, it says it's safe to turn off the computer.
What did he do, was it intentional or something other?
