Two nights ago I ran into a [bleep] of a problem. All my video files in any format will play sound-but the screen is totally black, or if I squint I can just make it out. So I thought no problem and tried new players, quicktime, real, windows media, nero, you name it. This problem is affecting all of my players. My next step was to erase all of my ATI graphic card files using the eraser, and do a fresh driver install. I have a x800xt graphics card. That didn't work. I next updated my viewsonic drivers, and then all the drivers for all the players. The problem persists. AND its driving me mad. I've tried different files, AVI, DIVX, mpeg, WAV - none work. I can view internet pages with moving icons, and video games work just as well as before. My monitor seems to work fine, no color changes or strange happenings. It only seems to affect video playback and it makes it black on all players - even with new or updated drivers. Any advice would be appreciated.
