I'm totally new to the forum and a complete computer illiterate so please bear with me. I have quite a few popup blockers and programs like Norton Antivirus & Adaware but my computer is telling me that it's infected with a virus. I've tried deleting programs that I know shouldn't be there but my task manager says that I've got over 60 processes running right when I open up to my desktop. I've read through some of the threads in this forum and saw a similar problem to mine, and I'm thinking that my IE may corrupted but I'm not sure..

Are you sure the virus warning isn't just a pop-up? Some pop-ups claim you have a virus hoping you'll click on them and infect yourself with whatever spyware or adware they have in them.

Hi satiatesammie...

Because this looks suspiciously like malware, let's make sure the machine is clean before we get started fixing it.

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the Start Here.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
