In safe mode:

Right click MY COMPUTER, choose PROPERTIES, choose ADVANCED, choose the SETTINGS button in the Startup And RECOVERY section, and uncheck AUTOMATICALLY RESTART

Now reboot. This should result in the BSOD error...report the STOP ERROR and any parameters.

it owrked fine until i took my power supply out to test a friends machine, when i put it back windows wouldn't start, at all. after reading a post on this site i used the windows CD to repair the OS. Now it loads up to the windows boot screen then a blue screen with some text on it flashes and it restarts. After that i can only boot in safe mode.

A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

if this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow thes steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. if a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or ceck with the manufacturer for driver updates. try changeing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS upates. Disable Bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to be use Safe Mode to Remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and the select Safe Mode.

in safe mode

start > run, type
eventvwr.msc
<enter>

Look under systems and applications for items with red Xs that happened at the SAME time as your problem...list them here.

also right click on my computer > manage > device manager > look for any yellow ? or !

absolutely USELESS BSOD (thanks microsoft...you're the best..guy :tazz: )...

getting DCOM errors (can you expand the detail on one of those and post that?)

open up the machine and make sure everything is seated correctly...
