I am using windows me.
upon rebooting, the system would not boot, and instead gave me the message that i need to reinstall windows, and explorer.exe would not load. It also gave me this message:
MSVCRT.DLL FILE LINKED TO MISSING EXPORT NTDLL.DLL:RtlGetNTVersion Number.

I donot want to reinstall windows me ( I will lose all my previous programs and settings,
right?). I booted the system up with a windows me startup disk, did scanreg /fix and scanreg /restore, but during boot, the system stopped, indicating it could not load explorer.exe and to reinstall windows, with the message: MSVCRT.DLL FILE LINKED TO MISSING EXPORT NTDLL.DLL:RtlGetNTVersion Number.

HELP, HELP, PLEASE

Thanks,

Liz

Hi LIZMERRILL...

We may be able to resolve this without reinstalling, but I will need a little more information on your machine and the installation disk you have.

First, is the machine an OEM machine such as Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc...? If yes, do you have the recovery CD's? If no, do you have a Windows ME installation CD?

Second, and this is dependent on your answers to the above, Windows ME can usually be installed over itself withough losing data...providing you have the right CD (retail version).
