instead of downloading tons of codecs, just install vlc media player. It only has problems with the newest realmedia format, but you have realplayer for that anyway.

vlc has its own problems, the mega codec pack is one of the best things, and the mega codec pack (if its the same one i use) has vlc and media player classic included. the codec pack is the easiest and safest way to do it sure you have lots of progrmans but they use little space and if you need to play anything then its handy.
