Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu). Now make sure you are able to view Hidden Files. Go to control panel, folder options, and click the "View" tab. Scroll down the list and make sure to select "Show Hidden Files and Folders" click ok.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.
Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.
Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Johnny!
thank you very much! i first did the download of adwareaway freetrial and scanned and got a few bugs out with that. then i did as you recommended and used Hijack this and then with filemanager delete those files. I saw 2 executeable files that were left over besides the DLL files, so i got rid of those too. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\TFBMT.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DSKTRF.DLL
C:\PROGRAM FILES\40ZLSGAO\40ZLSGAO.dll

rebooted and it looked clear, and then adawareaway scan again. all looked clear , shut down, reconnected to the internet and started up again. ALL LOOKS GOOD!!! so far. Before iit looked good for 5 minutes then bpupups killed it. This time, NO POPUPS!! yeah!!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!, how can i repay you!? , easier computers i hope someday will be here.

I am thrilled that this fix worked.

THANKS, jonnyrotten TOPTECHIE for the year!! smiles

Thank you very much  I'm glad you have a clean computer now! :tazz: Looks like you need to delete one more thing with Hijack This

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://69.42.87.219/sidesearch.html

I also recommend these two steps to do a little extra cleanup.

Please download "Del Domain" from here:

http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=40

Download it to your desktop or somewhere you will find it. Extract the .inf file from the .zip file you just downloaded. Now right click "Deldomains.inf" and click "Install". It will not appear to have done anything, thats ok. Next step.

Please download CleanUp!and install it. Now run the program and click the "CleanUp!" button. When finished reboot and post a new Hijack This log, just to make sure ;)

Hi!, thank you again. All seems to work very well, the best in months, if not years. here is new hijackthis log file.
By the way, i have a second computer that i managed to screw up with spybot. It found 133 errors and when i deleted them all and rebooted it will not run windows 98se. Pc on loading windows 98 does not finish as it comes up with an error running explorer.exe. Got any hints for restoring that second pc? Spybot had a backup registry but i cant get windows to load.
Here is the log with your new instructions and cleanup, etc

thanks, emery
