ok im having a problem here and needing to see if someone can help me out...im working on another computer (not the one im on at the moment) but it is having some MAJOR problems. I am getting the following error just after the "Login" screen when windows starts up:

(this prevents me from doing HJT log and such and I hope this is in the right spot even thought i don't have HJT log)

"The application failed to initalize properly (0xc0000142). Click Ok to terminate the application"

in the Title of the box that pops up it shows two different files.

"dwwin.exe"
and
"drwtsn32.exe"

upon clicking OK one of the two .exe error boxes pop up again.

when i sign in with Admin or normal login it plays the windows login music and shows the desktop wallpaper but NOTHING else. then these boxes start coming. Can't get past it, nothing else happens.

Have tried restarting in safe mode and the same thing STILL happens and can't get in to do anything. Is there any way anyone here can help me out with this?

Would be greatly appreciated with a nice quick response on this as its for a company i work for and i have no idea what to do here.

Thanks for any and all information you can help towards this. Last resort is reformat and we really can't afford to do that unless we HAVE to.

I was able to access some of the files on the PC with it turned on from another PC that is Networked to it (not sure how or why though). Anyways i was looking at files on the desktop and got the following VIRUS detection on the PC i was looking at it from

Virus Found:
Infected File: Wab.exe
Virus: W32.Licum

I hope that this helps a little more and may help in determining what to do to fix the problem.

Hi JDawg. Sorry for the delay in responding to your log. As you can tell the malware removal forum is very busy. Please give me some time to research your problem. I will be back as soon as possible with instructions.

Hi JDawg my name is williesbest2 and I will be helping you with your computer today. Please let me know if you have problems with the below directions.

1. Begin getting HijackThis to infected computer
Please get a floppy, cd, or flash drive that has free space on it. Please download HijackThis from the following link. Please make sure you downloaded the most recent version which is 1.99.1. Next, please save HijackThis to the flash drive, cd, or floppy.

2. Boot into safe mode
  • Turn on the computer.
  • When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
  • Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
  • Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

3. Get HijackThis on the computer
After your computer boots into safe mode please do the following:
  • Put the device in which you save HijackThis onto into (cd drive for cd, usb port for flash drive, floppy drive for floppy) the proper slot.
  • Double click My computer, C:, Program Files, and right click and select New to create a new folder
  • Name this folder: HijackThis
  • Right click the HijackThis file and click copy
  • Navigate to the folder that you just created and paste HijackThis in there
  • Please run HijackThis from there, from now on

4. Run HijackThis
When you first run HijackThis you will be presented with a menu, please click "Scan and Save a logfile". HijackThis will then scan your computer. After it is done Notepad will open shortly after. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING WITH HIJACKTHIS yet. Instead save the logfile onto your flash drive, cd, or floppy disk and post the log in your next reply.
