I was having an error message also that said some file was corrupt, but it wont give me that message anymore. What I noticed was when I would get the error message, in black and white, the cursor, the little line that blinks that looks like this --> _ <--- would jump all around the monitor screen. So that makes me think its hardware? Anyone ever seen this happen? IDE cables? Harddrive?
The computer did not come with recovery CD's, but it did come with an option in windows to burn the Recovery CD's to 9 CD's or to 2 DVDS. I tried the DVD method, but it said the DVD's were not blank (which they were). Anyway now HP wants me to pay 20 bucks for these recovery CD's. My question is, do you guys think it's a software problem or hardware problem.
I dont want to buy CD's that that wont fix my problem.
P.S. The computer has a second harddrive I believe with the recovery information on it. At the first load up screen that says HP, I have an option to do a system recovery if I press F10, but I get another error message that says
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
If this is the first time you've seen this....ext"
At the bottom of the screen it syas
Technical information
***STOP : 0X0000004E (0X0000008F, 0X00018969, 0X0001FE69, 0X00000000)
And of course the jumping cursor line is also jumping around the screen on this error message also.
