A friend of mine's computer got infected by a virus. I'm attempting to perform a windows xp home edition clean install. The only problem is that my friend lost their XP setup disk. It's an emachine, T1842. I went on the internet, and downloaded a Windows XP boot leg copy. After I insert it, I get an error message: "Setup could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not a valid Windows CD."

Please help!

We at geekstogo do not condone, and will not assist in, piracy in any way shape or form.

We can help you get the machine clean of malware though. Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .
That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.
