Hello, I am a new member :whistling: , this is my first post and I need help. :help:

Problem: Internet redirects to Google with X rated search requests  and other redirects.
In preparation of this post I went through every step in the “You Must Read This First” page. The tools did find various malware and spybots but I am still having problems. Attached is the Ewido report and the hijackthis file.

The Ewido report. This was not the first report as it looks like the report overwrites the older ones, or I misplaced the original one.

Hi and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Sam and I will be helping you. :whistling:

Your log is clean. Are you still getting redirected to Google? What other problems are you having?

Thanks Buckeye Sam. :help: The problem will exist, for example, if I go to slickdeals, net. I may get a redirect or may not. A longer period between virus checks increases the chance of a redirect. You kind of know it is coming because of the longer pause while bring up a website. This happens with MS explorer and Firefox. This is a, normally, watched family computer so a lot of controlled(?) surfing is done. I run virus checks about once a week and I’m always finding something. It seems that some website is triggering a program to run and causing this junk on the computer.

I have read a few posts and there seems to be as many virus cleaners as there are viruses. I am willing to run everyone to clean this out. I have moved a lot of data, pictures, reports, from my C drive to an add on drive in preparation for the last “drastic” :whistling: step if necessary.

Thank again for looking at this.

Let's do some digging and see what we can turn up. :whistling:

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
      click NO
  • If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

===========

Download and Save Blacklight to your desktop:

Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement, leave [X]scan through Windows Explorer checked, click > scan then > next

You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).

Copy and paste this log in your next reply. Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"

Can you repost the log from Blacklight. That's just the end of the log from Silent Runners again.

No, it doesn't tell us anything. Both of those logs are clean.

Download WindPFind

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
* if you have trouble getting into Safe mode go here for more info.

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe.
When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to start scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while.
When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

Sam,
Here is the file Here is the file from WinPFind. There was a problem completing the scan. I tried three times after several reboots into safe mode. The scan (all three) went to the point as shown and it died with a message “Invalid data type for system". I hope this helps.

That log is clean also.

Please download Rootkit Revealer (link is at the very bottom of the page)
  • Unzip it to your desktop.
  • Open the rootkitrevealer folder and double-click rootkitrevealer.exe
  • Click the Scan button (bottom right)
  • It may take a while to scan (don't do anything while it's running)
  • When it's done, go up to File > Save. Choose to save it to your desktop.
  • Open rootkitrevealer.txt on your desktop and copy the entire contents and paste them here

Sam, here is the text file from RootkitRevealer. This was done in the normal boot up mode.

C:\Documents and Settings\Daddyo1\Local Settings\Temp\~DFDBF4.tmp 4/5/2006 10:45 PM 32.00 KB Visible in Windows API, but not in MFT or directory index.

Hmmm...we are running out of places to look. Let's follow up on something that I noticed in one of your other logs.

Download FindLop. Unzip the file. It will create a folder. From the extracted files, locate findlop.bat and double click on it. It will generate a log file - C:\findlop.txt

Find that file and copy the content into your next post along with a new HijackThis log.

I can't find any sign of malware. :whistling:

When is the last time you were redirected? What site were you on and where did it redirect you to?
Can you post a log from one of the virus scans when it last found something?
