Windows XP repair...

Ok I followed the instructions heres what mine did, After I hit "R" it goes to a black screen asking for admin password which is blank after I hit enter it shows C:/windows and curser? doesnt seem to repair? what do I do now?

oh and windows ME was on this computer before going to XP

youve gone into the repair console, not the actual "windows repair" you want to do... instead of pressing "r" to repair, continue as if you were setting up windows.. it will then scan for previous versions, and it will let you highlight the version you want, then allow you to repair it.
