Welcome big time harry <_<

A freezing computer can be difficult to diagnose, and it's usually a proccess of elimination. In addition to Tazz's suggestion, I've usually found freezing to be caused by one of the following:

1) Overheating: Make sure all your fans are working. Motherboard Monitor is a nice tool for monitoring system temps, but it's not real easy to set up.

2) Spyware: If you haven't scanned your system for Spyware, now's the time to do it. I recommend running both SpyBot, and AdAware as each has it's own strengths. When finished with these programs, run HiJack This, copy and paste the log. We can look for any remaining nasties.

3) Bad memory: memtest86 is a great program to check your memory for errors. It's run from a floppy disk.

Check the above in the order shown. Ask any questions as needed.
