I decided to deinstall excess stuff and try to shut down unnecessary startup processes. I now have the situation where I get a fatal exception error when I startup and right after that get a backupnotify.exe problem. I have been searching the net and have tried to download dotnetfx.exe as I've seen suggested. I downloaded verion 2.0. (I know that some of the links point to 1.1). I also bought and loaded Registry Fix 5.5. It claimed that it fixed over 1000 errors. I don't think that my pc is running any differently and I still get the 2 errors that I started with. The errors seem to be tied up with backupnotify.exe. As far as I can tell I don't need it and never did. It is supposed to notify you to backup pictures. I've had this computer at least 2 years and have never received this notice.

Please, can someone help me get rid of the errors when I boot up?

could you post the EXACT error messages that you get?
also
start > run, type
eventvwr.msc
<enter>

Look under systems and applications for items with red Xs that happened at the SAME time as your problem...list them here.

The first error is "Fatal Execution Engineer Error (0x7927baca)"

The second error is a popup window from backupnotify.exe.
TITLE: "Backupnotify.exe common language runtine debugging services"
In WINDOW: Process ID 0xe7c(3708) Thread ID = 0x380(3712)
Click OK to terminate the application.
Cliick Cancel to debug the application.

After running event.vmr.msc I got :

Dsenett,

I solved my problem. I deinstalled microsoft.net 1.1 and reinstalled it. That solved it.
