Hey, quick question.

I've been wanting to update my video card for some time now, and I noticed a good deal on a "Sapphire Radeon X1600 XT 256MB PCI-E w/ TV-Out, DVI".

Now the question I was wondering was is that compatable with my mother board, an ASUS P4R800-VM

Any help would be much appreciated.

looks like that graphix card is a pcie card..and your board only has either pci or AGP ports on it...so no...it wouldn't be compatible at all

I don't know where you found the deal, but this is where I found one;

http://www.ebuyer.co...duct_uid=106035

I have taken the liberty of also finding you a new motherboard, if you were going to look into that;

Socket 478, Intel P4: http://www.ebuyer.co...duct_uid=102945
Socket 754 Intel P4;
http://www.ebuyer.co...duct_uid=103569
Socket 775 Intel;
http://www.ebuyer.co...duct_uid=103569

These boards are only for intels, but they have both AGP and PCI-E slots.

Socket 754 AMD;

Didn't find any Socket A. Looks like when the games rapidly progress, I'll be upgrading to not only 64bit, but PCI-E. That will set me back a bit.

Sorry, just realised you said X1600XT, not X1800XT.

However the link is still there.
