my mouse cursor is acting weird...

even when i'm not touching my mouse at all the cursor slowly inches across my screen on its own. like a slow, fading heartbeat.

i don't know what to do. some help please?

Update your mouse drivers... although the other reason is much more common. I'm guessing your mouse is optical. You probably need a new, or better one.

Have you tried going to your Control Panel and clicking on the Mouse Icon? There are settings in there which may alleviate your problem. If you have an old mouse, the drivers may be outdated, but usually Windows XP is very good at providing a decent default driver.
