I followed microsofts instructions on deleting Dr. Watson, saved reg. files etc... but when i try to open a folder or go into control panel or anything that I would get an error w/ Dr. Watson for, I get this message:

"The instruction at '0x00cdd065' refrenced memory at '0x00000000'. The memory could not be 'written'. Click on OK to terminate the program.

The heading of the error message is "SysFader: explorer.exe -Application Error".

I Downloaded Hijackthis, but when i try to run the program i get an error message saying that the system file C:\WINDOWS|SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

Please help me out here... I have exhausted all my resources...

Hi,

I'm not sure that the Winsock fix will work in most cases.
Did this start after installing XP SP2? If so to get up and running quickly you can boot into safe mode an uninstall SP2 (this is a work around not a solution).

If you do decide to uninstall SP2, when you get back into windows, I would recommending running Spybot, adaware etc then posting a HJT log here: http://www.geekstogo...o_Here-f37.html as you are more likely to get a response.

Hi,

SP2 is service pack 2 for windows XP, to uninstall it, go to add/remove programs (start> settings control panel> add/remove programs) click on service pack 2 and remove.
