my laptop (presario 700 cm2130)
does not power up
the ac adaptor is fine since i tried with a new one , it seems the power is arching (firing back ) when i plug it so i wonder what are my best option on how to get it fixed or to retrieve all my files from it

ps: battery is dead

Have you tried using another battery? Perhaps it is shorted out, especially since you say that the battery is dead.

You could always remove the disk to recover your files, assuming that nothing else works.
