Hi, I have an emergrncy w my pc. Apparently from one day to the next it malfunctioned. I started it as normal and on the loading screen came on: No OS detected. the day before I downloaded some updated from microsoft and also defragmented my disk. Now it doesnt say no os detected, but it prompts me to insert the win xp service pack 1 to redinstall the os!! I have no back up of my work, that is my major fear. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx, Dan

1. Restart your computer, and keep tapping F8 during the initial start-up until you get options, select Safe Mode with a command prompt then press enter.

2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials.

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.
