Hi there! This is my first post and before anyone worries I'm not totally new to computers in the slightest I wont go into my hate for photocopiers or printers breaking down.

My big question is over a Sennheiser PC150 Binaural Headset - I use it at home and recently it started just having static like sound through the microphone. I've done a few tests and the weirdest thing of all seems to be when i touch grounded metal - pc, radiator - don't ask why I touch a radiator when under the desk wondering why its buzzing in my ears....

So yes, I tried another mic and the problem ceased so I'm doubting its the pc hardware and more likely the wire in the headset... has anyone go any ideas how i should repair it without removing all the wire cover its quite a lot... and the amount of duct tape to cover that up would be a bit silly!

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. I would agree with you that it is probably due to the headset/microphone. You could examine the wires looking for any that are loose. You may also have a broken wire that makes intermittent contact. These things are not usualy made with high quality wiring. It may be better to replace it with a new one, maybe higher quality.

i'd go with either a full replacement of the wire...or if you want to get crazy (tinfoil hat to keep the government out of your thoughts crazy) you could permanently ground the wire...maybe by wrapping another wire around it and wrapping that on the desk...or maybe wrap the whole wire in tin foil for that added "kook" effect

How everyone seems to pick up that I use that kitkat wrapping for everything I will never know! But yes so far putting about 20% of the wire under the pc case and having it touch the metal seems to do the trick.
