no operating system is safe from malicious code writers. whether it's Mac, Linux, or Windows all systems are vulnerable and able to be attacked. Yes most viruses, worms, trojans etc. are targetted toward Windows, but that is only because Windows is the most widely used OS out. As more people go to Linux and Mac then a shift will occur and virus makers will start targetting those operating systems more often. It's the nature of the beast. Now that Mac has released the beta version of Bootcamp that will open even more doors for Mac users to get infected since they will use bootcamp to put Windows on their machines.

In February of 2006, two new viruses were detected that target only the Mac OSX or higher operating systems. Inqtana.A Worm and Leap.A Virus

Like I said windows is awsome until you try mac than. your stuck with mac forever!

I must be one of the oddest people out there, I tried a mac, have decided that I will never go back.
I will continue to run Windows, and when it gets useless, I will go full time Linux. My custom box allows me the pleasure that a mac user, regardless of it being a laptop or desktop, doesn't have. Ease of upgrading. there is no special order manufacturer parts only. That is why I will never go Mac.

You can use the same hardware in PCs and in Macs. I just replaced my ibook hard drive from which i purchased from tigerdirect. no where on that page did it say anything about macs or pcs. standards are a beautiful thing.

Hardware standardisation is a relativley new developement for macs, they just moved over to x86 but only for intel. The mac debate is no longer really about hardware at least it wouldnt if apple sold the OS seperate then we wouldnt have to put up with poor hardware quality and build quality. The OS is pretty allright if it does what you want to do if it does other things its harder if it suits you thats fine, i cant stand to work on a mac i wont even touch anything with OS8 or 9 because they were so horribly slow and unreliable. 10 is better but still you have to buy overpriced hardware to get it and its not THAT good, i dont get the rubbsih people spout about viruses and "illegal operations most problems are user related in fact almost all of them are windows you need to have a vague idea of what you are doing and if you do thats fine its when you dont it doesnt work well.
