how do i edit a dvd like just get 2min of it?

can i use windows movie maker?

There are a couple of options.

First is to rip the VOB video files from the DVD to your hard drive and then use a program to cut out the portion you want. The freeware opensource VirtualDub-MPEG can handle VOB files and allows for exporting a portion of a clip into AVI format.

The second option would be use to use a screen capture program and capture the video as you play it on your screen in a media player. A nice free open source media player is Media Player Classic and a free open source screen capture program is CamStudio. Links below:
