no motive chorus device or internet connection

hi, when i turn on my computer i recieve a message of "the motive chorus device has encountered a fatal error". i also have no access to the internet, BT have told me i have no dial up adapter installed on my computer but i dont no what this means or how to get one installed. please help as i have no sound on my computer either! :whistling:
