Floppy Drive Install

I have several floppy drives from other computers, and I'm wondering if there is a visible way of knowing whether these drives are functional, such as light coming on, or not coming on.

Make a bootable floppy, hang each drive off your computer in each turn and see if it boots off the floppy, would be the easiest way to test them. Also turn on Floppy Seek in BIOS - if it doesn't even do that, it probably won't let you boot off of it.
