cant install new hardware

cant install on my laptop but the disks work on other peoples.help.this is a new laptop and a new printer,i tryed my house mates first and it didnt work so bought one and still it says problem occured new hardware may not work

by this, do you mean that you cannot install the driversfrom the disk?

The first thing you should do in any case is get the drivers from the manufacturer website and not use the drivers that came with the device at all.

Most drivers on CDs are outdated because the time to manufacturer to the time the device is available is so long, errors in the drivers are invariably discovered and updated
